NEW: WE ARE NOW RUNNING BATTLE BUDDY SYSTEM! Overview This training is aimed at people who are new to the FK. Doesn't matter if you're brand new to Arma or you have 500 hours under your belt but no experience with the mods we use. Topics that will be covered: How to join and make sure you can successfully join our servers What happens in the FNG and Off-hours rooms Slotting procedure and what happens in the spawn area ACE Arsenal - how to get yourself equipment you'll need ACE Interactions ACE Medical - Basic rifleman first aid Short Range Radio LAT introduction and overpressure BLUFOR vs OPFOR assets static showcase (if time allows) Rangefinding and working with map (if time allows) I also have two loadouts prepared for you, one for BLUFOR, one for OPFOR. They're meant as basic templates you can fall back to, change uniform and be ready to play. The idea is that you will be able to go straight into a mission after the training and play as a rifleman. This training does not earn you any tags or direct progress towards a Regular rank. But it will teach you how to play with us and therefore indirectly leads to both. How to join Please RSVP here and be at "Basic Training" room on TS at given time. We will be conducting this training on server 2. Time in the calendar should be automatically adjusted to your own timezone, but just to make sure, this training will start at 1700 EST. Expect roughly 2 hours of time taken, the extra 20 minutes are there in case of delays and technical issues. You're expected to have the mods from our modset downloaded via Steam. Also please install the TFAR plugin for your TeamSpeak, if you have any issues with it, come 10 minutes earlier so we can sort it out. Current modset is here: The best way of making sure you have exactly what you need is to click that "PRESET FILE" link, open your Arma 3 launcher, go to MODS section and import the file - it will auto-subscribe mods you need, start downloading them and create Mod Preset for FK. Then even if you're playing elsewhere and have hundreds of other mods you'll load only the correct ones. IP and password will be given to you before we join the server. Mandatory reading Rules on how to conduct yourself in an FK Arma mission: Recommended reading Most of what will be covered - still best to try it out yourself. Recommended bindings and ACE settings - we will cover these during the training as well. This is contained up there ↑ too. TFAR guide - will be covered to some extent, contains list of of radios for each faction. Roles Index - who does what under ideal circumstances Weapons Guide - What you can take and when.

Due to my work schedule this training maybe cancelled but with plenty of notice. General information First of all a bit of additional information. There will be two types of events for mortar training and evaluation. Only training (max of 8 people) Training with an evaluation at the end (max of 4 people) Alternatively a one on one training or evaluation is also possible! All of this will be written up into the mortar section on the forum soon™. If I have time I will run through evals at the end for those that are eligible ie Regs+ Event information Requirements: Have basic knowledge about the ACE interaction system. Be able to do to very basic math at a reasonable speed ... Either in your head, on paper or with a normal calculator. I'm talking about stuff like: 5.88 + (-104.2) = -98.32 0.7 * 8.4 = 5.88 (1 - 793.28 / 1013.25) * 100 * -4.8 ≈ -104.2 What will we teach during this event: Mortar crew loadout Map reading for mortar setup location. distance to target and height difference How to read rangetables Mk6 / L16 (82mm) M6 (60mm) Kestrel usage (wind, temperature, air pressure) Doing the calculations by hand with basic tools like pen, paper, calculator How to respond to the RTO calling in a firemission How to adjust fire (RTO calls: "rounds where 200m short" or "50m long" ...) How to prepare for incoming fire missions (what can you calculate before RTO calls for the firemission) Load, aim and fire all kinds of mortars (Mk6, L16, M6, 120mm, ...) How to use "extra tools" like the MicroDagr or Vector21 to help with the calculations Very basic drone usage. It is highly recommended reading the guide on Indirect Fire Support before attending this event. I will talk about the content of his guide from the mortar team side, but only briefly! This event is NOT exclusive to Regs+. Anyone can RSVP. We are limiting the RSVP to 8 people but most of the time not everybody who RSVP'ed shows up. Feel free to just be there at the time and you might be able to get in. Be sensible, an amount of extreme fuckery (completely unnecessary or unrelated fucking around, stupid delays due to not paying attention .etc.) will get you kicked out of the training, possibly even with a ban, and maybe even a ban from further trainings.

This will take place on the second server. Anyone can RSVP, but regs+ will have priority. Training session focused toward figuring out where you are and effective navigation on the ground without a GPS and in various adverse conditions such as darkness. The general session plan is as follows: 1. Loadouts - outlining the items that'll be useful to have with you. 2. Location - we'll talk about how to figure out where you are using your environment and items. 3. Practice - this will make up the bulk of the session. You'll be given a time limit to pinpoint your location and make your way back to base. This will be repeated under different scenarios. 4. Driving - a short brief and some practice driving effectively without relying on the GPS. Be in the Misc Training room on time. People who haven't RSVPed can join in at the start time given there's space.
