Warsaw Uprising

5th, September, 1944

The Allies are pushing back the Germans to the west and the Soviets are rapidly approaching from the east. The Germans are weaker now than they have ever been and the time has come to throw them out of Poland, starting at the capital. As we speak our fight is well underway and is not going well. Our initial advances were limited and the Germans are starting to bring in heavy reinforcements. Your particular resistance group has been sent out to the north of the city to try and block, or at least delay, a major German Reinforcement column from entering Warsaw. The area you are pushing into is not friendly and contains an enemy airfield that is being used to perform strikes on the city. Also in the area is a German HQ we believe to be responsible for coordinating their reinforcements. Both of these targets are to be destroyed and you should capture what you can. From there you are to make the best of your situation and dig in to prevent the enemy from passing through the town Staszow. The enemy are expected to advance from the north and other resistance groups have been dispatched on your flanks to perform a similar blocking task. It is imperative you have set up your defence before the main reinforcement convoy arrives.

The oncoming reinforcements are expected to be of high quality, and while a small amount of its vanguard may have already arrived in the town, the garrison of Staszow itself is believed to be made up of survivors from destroyed units and their vehicles are mostly old and outdated. They do however posses artillery support somewhere in the region as it has been shelling our positions for the last few days. Unfortunately it would seem some of our captured troops have given the game away and the enemy appears to be aware of our approach and are preparing themselves accordingly. They are constructing roadblocks, trench lines and are fortifying select buildings. Thankfully though, they have not had time to lay minefields nor make their positions concrete, literally or metaphorically, so entering the town should not prove too much of a task as things stand.

Your position in the town will be precarious, we will not be able to reach you with resupply and reinforcements will be limited, so you will have to steal what you need. We are not expecting you all to return, only to hold the line as long as you can. You have been provided with some explosives to destroy whatever cannot be captured and you have 3 former tankers with you who should be able to man any armoured vehicles you find. Hold on to your positions for as long as possible, but fall back if you think better options are available.

 

 

Recap (briefing without the fluff):

  • Playing as Polish resistance.
  • Fighting the SS and Wermacht.
  • Enemy reinforcements will be strong, initial garrison in Staszow should be comparatively weak.
  • Enemy forces expected from the north, pushing south towards Warsaw. There are other friendly
    to your east and north performing similar blocking actions.
  • Main task-1: Reach enemy airfield and HQ before their reinforcements do, destroy what cannot be stolen or used.
  • Main task-2: Establish defensive positions and prevent enemy reinforcements from reaching road to Warsaw.
  • Enemy has limited artillery, unknown type or location, should be nearby.
  • Some hasty fortifications, nothing major, no mines.
  • Aircraft only from target airfield.
  • Heavy armour in reinforcement column, moderate outdated vehicles in Staszow garrison.
  • No resupply, will have to loot what you need (medics get 1 resupply each for medical gear).
  • 4x respawns requested by PLT.
  • You tank crew does not start with a vehicle, but can steal anything.

MISSION SUMMARY: This will be a heavily themed mission with elements taken from the Second World War, with some artistic liberties taken. The mission will be making use of the Arma 3 mods Iron Front, Faces Of War and CSA38 which will be posted as well at the bottom of this event page in a compiled list.  Weaponry within the mission will be restricted to WW2/Faction based weaponry and will be restricted per your chosen role. Tags for applicable roles are being enforced and will not be different from standard slotting. Squad Structure and PTLN structure have been changed to accommodate the theme and structure of operations in the Second World War. There may be some potentially offensive imagery present in the mission.

  1. scripted loadouts (no SR radios or GPS, only SL has LR)
  2. Looting of enemy weapons is allowed and encouraged (stay within squad layout and standard FK rules, 1 DMR, 2 UGLs, 1 MG, etc).
  3. No resupply, you will have to loot what you need (medics get 1 resupply each for medical gear).
  4. Respawns, 4x requested by PLT.
  5. BFT disabled.
  6. Do not leave marked AO.
  7. There will be no "Zeus" briefing, the text above is all you have.
  8. Completion conditions= 1. PLT wiped out to the point of being combat ineffective (no exact %)
                                            2. Major enemy group makes it past your start point on the road to Warsaw.
                                            (if either condition is met the mission will end immediately. If either is met
                                            sufficiently early into the mission it will be considered a failure).
  9. Map Markings: No marking in side after briefing unless all (living) lead elements are together. 
                             No marking in group unless all (living) squad members are together.
  10. Tank crew may capture any ground vehicle- these vehicles will not be respawned if destroyed.

Also - if nobody will be blasting uprising by Sabaton during this mission I will be quite disappointed.
