Operation: Silent Thunder

Introduction:

The year is 1968, and US forces are engaged in a brutal conflict in Vietnam. Your mission is to support air operations by destroying enemy surface-to-air missile sites. The enemy has several such sites in the province of San Bay Ban and they pose a serious threat to friendly aircraft. Your mission is to destroy these sites to aid further operations in the area of Khe San

Objectives:

1. Conduct reconnaissance mission to locate the missile sites.
2. Destroy the surface-to-air missile sites when found.
3. Extract via the extraction point.

Assets: 

1x Mobile M2 60mm Mortar Crew with

1. RTO
2. Gunner
3. Loader
4. Ammo Carrier
    

Equipment: 

Determined by Platoon lead. 

Taking REDFOR weapons such as AKs or RPDs is allowed.

Restrictions:

1. No short range radios.
2. Only Radio Operators shall have a long range radio.
3. No GPS

 Notes: 

• The enemy forces are well-entrenched and heavily armed. Expect heavy resistance.
• The terrain is dense jungle, making movement and visibility difficult.
• The extraction point is located at the western edge of the map. Be sure to secure a path before attempting to extract.
• The missile sites are well defended and will require careful planning and coordination to destroy.
• Beware of enemy trackers.
• Your area of operations is the contained area in the given picture. There may be hostile encampments anywhere. 
• SAM Sites are most likely located on top of hills or in line of sight of the river. 
• Extraction will occur via river boat
