Operation Enduring Freedom - Afghanistan

Map: Takistan

Date: 7th October 2001

Time of day: 11am

Involving: USAF 10Th Mountain Division Supporting Afghan National Army

This mission like most of my mission will have implications on every other mission I run, this means destroying property, killing civs, loss of assets and failure of mission will have implications even after this campaign.

Background:

After the September 11 attacks the USA has declared war on Terrorism. Al-Qaeda has a strong foothold in Afghanistan and the underequipped Afghan National Army is struggling to stay in control. Most of the country is under Warlord rule. Al-Qaeda is well armed because of the Mujahideen war in the late 1980s this will mean our job will be a lot harder.

Objective:

Our objective today is to gain a foothold in Afghanistan by securing the southern airfield and capturing nearby villages. The Afghan National Army is spread thin and the airfield is under current attack. We need to move in quickly secure a perimeter, so our armour can be airlifted in by a supporting division. Once secured the 1st Cavalry will hold the airfield with the Afghan National Army whilst your division makes us some breathing room to set up a HQ. Four choke points have been marked on map you will need to capture these areas and lock them down as we may receive a counter attack.

MAP: https://imgur.com/a/A6VAa45

Hostile Forces Composition:

Soviet Bloc equipment left over from Soviet-Mujahideen war.

Anything you would expect from Al-Qaeda forces

ROE: ORANGE – Do not engage anyone even if armed unless shot at first, we need the locals on our side to win this war.

Respawns:

1 x Once Airfield is captured.

1 x at Platoons choosing

Others may be granted if crossroads feels the troops would be put to good use.

Restrictions:

No Base Game Mine detectors.

Limited to 6 Primary, 3 Secondary mags (Including “hot mags”, mags in weapon).

Max 6 GL rounds per person.

Max 2 Lethal, 2 Non-Lethal (Smokes) grenades per person (Leadership roles can take 2 extra coloured smokes and 1 extra white smoke).

Success:

Airfield and surrounding choke points are captured.

Failure:

Failure to gain a foothold on the airfield

If airfield is overrun by hostile forces after a perimeter is secured.

Platoons falls below 20% strength

Failure to hold all objectives at 9:00 (with a 15-minute grace period, i.e. no later than 9:15)

Drastic failure to hold all objectives by 9:00 may lead to crossroads ordering evacuation of failure of the mission.

Multiple infractions of behaviour deemed reckless by crossroads, for example levelling civilian buildings, killing wildlife or needless sacrificing of friendly forces.

Assets:

~30 People:

1 Chinook – Option to switch to AH-6M-L Little Bird after capture of airfield

1 Abrahams (Tusk 1)

(Possible extra Chinook or Bradley)

~50 People:

2 Chinooks - 1 can switch to AH-6M-L Little Bird after capture of airfield, other MH-6M Little Bird.

Other Info:

Advised Uniform (based upon last plt choice): Combat Uniform UCP (1st Cavalry Div)

This mission like most of my mission will have implications on every other mission I run, this means destroying property, killing civs, loss of assets and failure of the mission will have implications even after this campaign.

Previously we managed to capture the airfield and set up an HQ, minimal losses were made, and we secured a good sector surrounding the airfield and have set up more hardened checkpoints (Blue markers on map). Further troops have moved in and now we need to expand our operation. Further Information regarding previous mission can be found in the Operation Thread (Link at the bottom)

Objective:

Today our objective is to clear Passage Bronco from hostile resistance and set up defences at the proposed FOB Badger marked on the map. You will need to bring along the trucks provided so we set up some defences in preparation for an attack. We will be assisted by the Air Force who will fly in supplies for us to set up our FOB after we have cleared the area. You will need to defend the Chinooks as they make the drops. Additionally, you may be called upon to assist in other operations if the need arises.

 Operation Enduring Freedom - Afghanistan

Map: Takistan

Date: 27th December 2001

Time of day: 3pm

Estimated Mission time: 28th Dec, roughly four hours after mission start

Involving: USAF 10th Mountain Division, 101st Airborne Division

Advised Uniform (based upon previous plts choice): Combat Uniform UCP ( 10th Mountain Division or 101st Airborne Division)

This mission like most of my mission will have implications on every other mission I run, this means destroying property, killing civs, loss of assets and failure of the mission will have implications even after this campaign.

Background:

After the September 11 attacks, the USA has declared war on Terrorism.

Previously we managed to capture the airfield and set up an HQ, minimal losses were made, and we secured a good sector surrounding the airfield and have set up more hardened checkpoints (Blue markers on map). We have secured and set up FOB Badger and entrenched our foothold in Afghanistan whilst helping the locals. Further Information regarding previous missions can be found in the Operation Thread (Link at the bottom)

Objective:

MAP:  https://imgur.com/a/SPHBnSf

Tomorrow we aim to raid the area marked on the map for any caches whether it be arms, vehicles or statics. We do not know where any of these caches are or if there are any for definite, but we expect there to be some. However, if they get wind of your operation expect them to attempt to pack up and move their caches. We will give you the freedom to choose when you want to start your infill, these are your options:

Dawn, Midday, Dusk

You can expect the benefits or issues these timings will bring irl, hitting them at dawn or dusk will allow you to catch them off guard, have reduced mobilisation timing, reduced vision for hostiles, ect during the day expect more troops, quick response, ect

Crossroads suggests a dawn or dusk raid however it’s the choice of the platoon as to which scenario is best suited for their current platoons’ strength and skill.

Your platoon will be split into two groups an airborne quick response unit and a ground unit

Hostile Forces Composition:

Soviet Bloc equipment left over from Soviet-Mujahideen war.

Anything you would expect from Al-Qaeda forces

Any intel we gather are listed in previous AARs

ROE: ORANGE – People in this country carry arms freely, do not engage anything that is not directly endangering your platoon or squad, permission to circumvent this may be given allowed but only through request of crossroads with sufficient evidence that all targets are combatants and no collateral damage will be incurred. (Rule very important for the drone op if they wish to strike a target where no troops have been engaged by it)

Destruction of property that contains caches is permitted

Respawns:

1 x at Plt discussion

Restrictions:

Limited to 6 Primary, 3 Secondary mags (Including “hot mags”, mags in the weapon).

Max 6 GL rounds per person.

Max 2 Lethal, 2 Non-Lethal (Smokes) grenades per person (Leadership roles can take 2 extra coloured smokes and 1 extra white smoke).

1 x IR strobe for each SL and TL

NVGs: AN/PVS-14

Success:

Once the platoon feels they have destroyed all or as many as possible caches in the marked area.

(you may have missed some or many of them however this won't lead to failure as we don’t know how many are in the area if any, missing caches will lead to more resistance through later missions)

Failure:

Platoons falls below 20% strength

Completion order not given by 9:10pm

Multiple infractions of behaviour deemed reckless by crossroads, for example levelling civilian buildings, killing wildlife or needless sacrificing of friendly forces.

Squads

Bottom Rifleman of each squad is Demo Expert.

Alpha, Bravo, Charlie – Ground Units (10th Mountain)

Each gets 1 x M2 Humvee, 2 x Unarmed Humvee

Delta, Echo – Airborne (limited to 8 men, 101st Airborne)

Assets:

~20 People:

1 x MH-6M Little Bird, can switch to AH-6M-L

~30 People:

1 x MH-6M Little Bird, can switch to AH-6M-L

 1 x YABHON-R3 (CAS) – (Cannot Resupply)

~50 People:

2 x MH-6M Little Bird, 1 can switch to AH-6M-L

 1 x YABHON-R3 (CAS) – (Cannot Resupply)

1 x Prophet Team

Other Info:

The area is deliberately big in order to force the platoon to prioritise resources to areas.

Crossroads can try to provide any support you need, could be A-10, Arty or armour, you will need to call this in through Crossroads and he can consult the appropriate “commander” as to whether said support is possible.
