Welcome, one and all, to the FK Gaming R6:S Community Tournament.

This will be a tournament that allows anyone in FK to join and enjoy a few competitive but good-natured games of Rainbow Six Siege as we enter into Year 5, Season 2.

The format of the competition will depend on how many teams sign up.

          2 Teams = A Best of 5 Showmatch, 1 day affair.

          3 Teams = A weekend round-robin of Best Of 1’s, followed by a Best Of 3 Grand final.

          4+ Teams = A long-form tournament which will consist of a few weeks of round-robin Best of 3 matches, then a playoffs/finals weekend.

Siege-Specific Ruleset can be found here: Rules 

          All matches involving EU teams will take place on EU-West servers, unless a fully NA team signs up. In that scenario, a coin toss will be conducted to determine which server is played on, EU West or NA East. In the case of a Best of 3 or 5, the host server will rotate each map. Ace and Melusi will be quarantined since they have not been vetted as competitively viable, but that means that Oryx and Iana are fine to use! Due to ongoing issues with clash's shield glitching, Clash will also be quarantined for this event.

          Games will be played at 5pm BST (UTC + 1) on Saturdays, starting from the 27th of June. There will be a captains meeting around 10 minutes prior to kick-off to talk through any events or things to take note of at 4.50pm on matchdays. 

          When signing up, your Uplay name is required so that we can seed the tournament, and have an indicator in the case of 4+ teams signing up of what games are likely to be the most competitive. If you do not have a team, that is completely fine, you have time to form one, or to register as an individual whom we can try and fit with a team.

          Depending on tournament format, most matches will be streamed (with a 3 min delay) to FK Gaming Twitch, with a full commentary and observation team.

Hosted every friday, Friday Night Fight (FNF) is a big recurring TvT brawl bringing multiple ARMA3 communities together, with only one team taking home victory at the end of the fight. FNF hosts missions in EU and NA timezone and FK is joining the fight this friday, July 3rd.

FNF has been a long standing event with a strong return rate of players. Initially mainly NA focused with a weekly event that has been running for a few years already, FNF is now expanding to EU timezone again with the first event starting July 3th. Anyone from FK can join and will represent our community. There is no minimum number of people required to attend. In three rounds of 45 minutes each, teams will decide who is the greatest in battle.

Rules
Each event, one player from each community will be selected as leader to make sure the event runs smoothly. Said leader will make sure his community joins the right team, will pass on information from FNF admins to their players, and will oversee any issue. This will most likely be a FK staff members, but a trusted FK community member can be asked to take this spot as well. As we're invited by the team behind FNF, breaking one of their rules will result in the same consequences as if you would break rules on an FK server.

Bored After Main Missions?

         For the past few months, a sizable group of FK member's have gathered in discord to share what they are playing after Main Missions. Whether they were gathering feedback about their RimWorld colonies, or asking for advice about their Elite Dangerous ship's build, or just enjoying watching others play - this new way of sharing content with others is fairly new to FK. For the longest time our "voice" channels on discord have gone empty as nearly everyone would rather speak on TeamSpeak than discord. Jump in sometime, and don't forget to mute so you're not transmitting your voice over both TS and Discord at the same time! Who knows, maybe you'll find a new game that you would enjoy! Not a member of our Discord? No problem- I've got you!

Card's Against FK

         A while back our longtime tech @anden3 made this thread in search of community input into our new cards against FK pack. For thous of you unaware of what Card's against FK is- it is in essence a custom "cards against humanity" game mode that runs in your browser. Many laughs have been had over the years from our last pack, and hopefully many more to be had with our new pack!

         As always there have been great strides taken to ensure that training will be available to all who are interested in it. To this end- 4 new trainers have been appointed. @BonSie is joining the Fixed Wing Trainer team, @Wattsits is joining the Rotary Wing Trainer team and @OneMadPanda and @colt92 are joining the Armor Trainer team. Please give these guys some time to get settled into their new roles before poking them too much.          Docta has an update for us regarding the new patches: "So there has been some news! For those of you who wanted new patches, congratulations! An order has gone out for manufacture with velcro backing. As soon as they're in my possession I'll get into contact with all who requested them and start shipping! Should be about a week and change I'm thinking. I wanted to do the new ones first as a lot of the old patches are still in circulation and it only felt fair to get the new ones out first. Legendo Steps Down
        @Legendo has decided to step down from his role as a Community Manager this week.         Many thanks to the participants of the FK R6:S Tourney! Commiserations to those who missed out on the final, @EHOPPPS Special Regiment and A White Engram, and commiserations to the Staff Team, Breadxit who fell at the final hurdle after a breath-takingly close match. Congratulations to Dynamic Warcrimes who after a shaky start won out in the final round possible, taking the spoils. Additionally, many thanks to those who volunteered their time as part of the production team: @Trinoc, Erwin, @Muhcreedy, Miiiish, JoeWaddy as our observer and @Deltabacon our producer and tournament admin.

Trainer's Corner 

Squad Lead Trainer's Announce New Training Methods
        A "Shadowing" Training session entails the Trainer taking the appropriate role (Team Lead or Squad Lead) and the Trainee as an attache. From there the Trainee shadows the Trainer and listens in to their communications (Local, Short Range and Long Range) and observes them in the role to see how and what decisions are made and how they conduct themselves. During this time it is highly encouraged the Trainee take notes and prepare questions for the feedback section (post mission debrief) where if needed the Trainer can answer questions on how they arrived at that decisions, what factors were they and why certain actions were taken.
The purpose of this is to give another avenue of people going for Tags to understand what is required in a role and what to aim for in a practical sense, as this along side the usual training and feedback sessions should help people improve and get to the consistency that tags require.

Balancing Arma3 on FK Servers
        Ever pick a gun out of the arsenal and then look at your weight and just say "there's no way it's that heavy!" Well, now thanks to the help of @johnb43 that hopefully will not be a problem on FK Arma3 Servers anymore! Earlier this week the CM team announced they would be rolling out changes in an effort to balance our mod-pack - among the changes made:
        - Added some new magazines, some from 'hidden' code
        - Changed lots of weapon and magazine weights to be more realistic or in line with each other
        - Added magazine compatibility to lots of weapons
        - Added some models to magazines so when you load them in certain weapons, they aren't invisible
        - Changed some models of some magazines
        - Changed some names and icons of items
        - Removed armor on non armored helmets
And more - see the change log for a full list of changes. This is an ongoing effort to ensure that our servers are offering the most realistic but reasonable game play that is possible. Thanks again to johnb43 for his hard work and effort in this project.

    Longtime member, and now moderator @SilentGunner13 has taken the initiative to organize a group buy option for our very first FK Gaming branded Dog Tags! Big T Steps down from Community Manager

         "It was a great time being a part of the staff team for as long as I have. This community has grown and changed to the better over the years. It wasn't always easy to be part of staff and make decisions that make a part of the community upset no matter what we would choose. I have learned a lot and I still love this community, but due to me moving forward with life I no longer have sufficient time to fulfil my role. That's why I made the decision to step down. Best of luck and keep it up to the remaining members of staff."

Running Man Charity Event 2020

         FK Gaming will once again join our friends from Oper8 Heaven and Team Brrrt this year to host our annual charity event benefiting Medicins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders). Medicins Sans Frontiers is an international humanitarian medical non-governmental organisation of French origin best known for its projects in conflict zones and in countries affected by endemic diseases. Silberjojo Steps down from RTO Trainer

         After long consideration about his roles as a Moderator, FAC Trainer, SL Trainer, and RTO Trainer @Silberjojo has decided to step away from RTO Training stating "It's really just that I don't have the time to do trainings and evals in three disciplines, while still playing Arma for myself and we got two very competent trainers left, so I don't feel bad about leaving at this time, at all." We thank Silber for stepping up and helping with RTO training when it was necessary but understand that one person can only do so much at one time. 

Point Forward steps down from Basic Trainer

         Point has decided after being unable to make time for Basic Training that it was time to step away from the role of trainer. We thank him for all his hard work and dedication to streamlining basic training. Basic Training will continue as normal with @Monocled Badger and @Jerichron.

Job Changes within the Community Manager Team

         The Community Manager team has done some shuffling of roles to ensure each department is fully staffed. @Cyico will now be assisting @Rabit Salvokelk with the herding of the Moderators and @OneMadPanda will be joining the Public Relations Team as a liaison.          It may seem a bit early to be planning for Christmas, but when you're trying to organize a Secret Santa of epic proportions starting early is always a good idea. This year @Spartan_MiniMe will be heading logistics of the Secret Santa endeavor along side the PR team who will be offering advertisement and promotion. It's that time of the year again! We're fast approaching November which means it's time to start testing out new mods for the new modset! At this time the Mod Suggestion thread for the November 2020 modset is now closed and the CMs have compiled a list of mods ready for testing. Thank you everyone for your suggestions.

If you have spare time, and would like to help test these new mods and how they interact with each other please apply to be a part of the Mod Testing Team. It is crucial that we have thorough testing and feedback before implementing a new modset on FK1, and the Staff Team would greatly appreciate your help! You can apply HERE!

New Liberation Rule Set

After months of deliberation the Moderator team and the CM Team have finalized the Liberation Ruleset. If you wish to play Liberation on FK Servers please read over the ruleset linked below. If you have any questions or need help understanding the rules please contact a moderator or post your question to the #staffquestions channel on the discord. Your lack of knowledge or understanding of these rules is not an excuse for breaking them. 

Mod Testing Update

FK2 Server will be locked for mod testing for the next few weeks. The mod testing team has been hard at work going through each mod one by one and providing useful guidance and feedback. To see if a mod you've suggested has been denied, check the thread below. Things are well underway, and should be able to produce the next modset by early November.

Even through having to wear a mask in public sucks, we all know this is our new "normal". Our lives are forever changed by the Covid-19 pandemic, but that doesn't mean it all has to be doom and gloom. Check out @WateryFox's thread here and share your masks!

Please welcome @Monocled Badger and @Spartan_MiniMe to the Community Manager Team!

          Badger is a veteran most known for his ability to teach and explain Arma 3 disciplines in guides. He currently is a Basic Trainer and a Squad Lead Trainer. Badger has been part of the community for 3 years off and on, and during his down time he enjoys crocheting.

          Spartan has held many roles within FK, from Medic Trainer to Moderator and we're happy to see him now pick up the mantle of Community Manager. Spartan is most known for his notable contributions to his roles, and his love for Anime. Spartan lives in California USA making him the first Community Manager from the United States of America.

Please allow our new CMs to settle into their roles before bombarding them with questions and demands.

After many weeks of hard work, it's here! The latest update to our main Arma modpack. This modpack is the result of the second iteration of our Mod Testing Team process, and I would like to thank all who contributed for their hard work during the process. It's not a massive overhaul of an update, but we're adding a few interesting mods with some new toys to play with, as well as welcoming back a few older maps we've not had since 2018, so older members can look forward to some nostalgia there! The biggest addition of toys is likely Project Blufor, which cleverly uses gear from various mods we already have along with some high quality retextures and guns used with permission from other mods to create a number of new, mostly European factions! Highlights include French units with FAMAS', Czechs with CZ Bren's, and Canadians with C7s!

One final notable addition is that of LAMBS_Danger.fsm. This is an AI enhancement mod that works alongside Zeus with new waypoints and modules along with tweaking their default behaviour in combat scenarios to bring a much more interesting and intelligent enemy. Zeuses do be sure to be aware of your smartened up tools, and players look forward to more challenging and varied encounters!

While it may look like we've added a lot of mods but not lost a lot, the data size of the modpack has stayed more or less the same, at roughly 63GB. For those interested, here are some stats:

Removed Mods (MB):  4799

New Modset Size (MB):  63151

Current (April) Mods Count: 47 

New Modset Count: 54 (5 removed, 11 added)

Anyway, on to the main details! This new modset will be live on FK1 from Monday, the 23rd of November. Updates to various internal mods and changes to the servers will happen at some point after main the previous day, and before the next main mission.

Below you will find a full list of what's come and gone, but the important parts are next: Mod Presets!

MOD PRESET + INSTALLATION
The simplest way to get the new modset ready will be to import our new official FK Modset November 2020 HTML file. Instructions on how to do this can be found here. Remember we will not be using this preset until Monday the 23rd.

SECOND SERVER
Because FK Mods is still being used for main missions until release date, if you want try out the new mods on the second server in the meantime you will need to use the FK 2 PRERELEASE Week Preset. Please only use this preset if you want to try out the new mods on FK2 before full release on FK1, where both servers will use the main preset from the above point.

FK Secret Santa

Due to the ongoing global pandemic, and the stresses that has caused on postal services this year's secret Santa will be a bit different. This year we will allowing only digital gifts to be given via Steam. While we understand that this is a break from the norm, it is a necessary one to keep everyone safe- and to not contribute to the already over stressed postal services across the globe. Despite these changes we hope that we can continue this tradition in good spirit, and celebrate the holiday season together.

Squad Leader Tag Evaluation change

The Squad Lead Trainers have conducted a review of their process and have lowered the minimum required Evaluations for the Squad Leader tag to 2, down from 3. New Moderators

         At this point it is no longer a surprise that we have three new moderators from the start of December. Please join us in welcoming @AngryScottishMan, @LurkerOne and @Wattsits into the staff team role and wishing them luck on their journey with FK Gaming.

Rhea's Extended Leave of Absence

         @Rhea will continue her leave of absence into February. In the mean time @Rabit Salvokelk will be taking over the INTREP. Any other PR related inquiries should be handled by @Rabit Salvokelk or @OneMadPanda.

PR team looking for a third

         As we move into the new year, the PR team find's itself in need of a third officer to complete all the tasks scheduled for 2021. We will be looking for someone who has enough free time to help the PR team with posting weekly, biweekly, and monthly ads on a scheduled basis to reddit, steam, and other platforms (approximately 2hrs / week). Any photoshop, video editing, or video recording experience or skills are a plus. To apply please fill out an application HERE.

INTREP Changes

         The PR team has decided that in 2021 INTREPs will change from being Bi-Weekly to Monthly. This will allow for more news to be covered in one INTREP. Instead of articles that are less than a paragraph long, or that are not interesting to the community - Articles will now be longer, more thought out, and cover more important topics. Not only does this make INTREPs more interesting, but it also allows the front page to be open for more stand alone posts that require it. INTREPs should from this point forward be published on the 1st of every month.

Trainer's Corner 

New Training Discord

         @Monocled Badger went through a rigorous process of consolidating all training discord servers into one. This does not change much in terms of acquiring tags however it reduces the amount of different discord servers that players who wish for training or evaluating need to be a part of. In addition the CM team hopes that this change will aid in bettering communications between training teams and the staff team. Many thanks for Badger and the team that helped put this entire thing together and we wish the team good fortune in maintaining it. New Interim FAC and RTO Trainers

         After a long process of application and deliberation the CM team is announcing @LurkerOne and @Garfield0003 as interim FAC as well as RTO Trainers. We are all curious to see what they will achieve and how in their new roles. It will certainly be an interesting process to observe given one of these specific training roles history. A big thank you for them stepping up as they have.

Tomo stepping down from CM

         We have requested @Tomo to write a personal message to the community as he is stepping down from his role as a Community Manager:

"Hi everyone. This period of the year marks 1 whole year I've been in the Community Manager role. It's been a very difficult year, both personally and "professionally". I don't do much outside of FK due to my personal circumstances, and as such poured a lot of myself into my role and helping out where I can. I even put too much in many places, and I apologise to my CM colleagues if I ever overstepped any boundaries.
I believe that my appointment was somewhat controversial, and I hope to have at least partially quelled some doubts, and I hope too that on balance I achieved some good in helping this community continue to exist despite the odds for most ArmA communities, and even to thrive.

My stepping down is mostly for personal reasons, such as my own health. I won't spill all here in a public fashion, but you are welcome to come and ask me privately if you wish.

I will also not be disappearing completely. I will still maintain my Trainer positions of Platoon and Zeus, in order to continue to help my colleagues in the CM Team and community members alike. Hopefully with more energy available you will see more activity from me in these roles to try and keep things moving.

Finally, I want to thank all of my colleagues in the CM Team past and present. For those of you who were keeping track, myself and Point were the only remaining members from the CM Team at my time of appointment still around, until my stepping down. We all know how difficult a role CM can be, and I hope I can impress upon everyone else reading with this fact at just how bad it can be. Please, remember to give the CM Team some slack. We are all humans, volunteers, and have jobs and lives to lead. It can be difficult to get together and get something done outside of the few hours each Sunday we agree to meet up. Rest assured, CMs always try their best to do what they think is best for the community at large.

         @Beshman has set up a new rust server for us in FK to enjoy. The server itself is whitelist only and has some settings differentiating from the official experience. Please see the thread to get more information on the whole thing.

New Minecraft Modded Server (FTB Presents Direwolf20) is now live

         @AntiMatter had conducted a poll which was to determine the next modpack for his privately hosted Minecraft server. The poll has concluded and the new server set up. Please have a look at the thread below to get whitelisted if interested.

         @Fred has joined the PR team. Now it is no secret that even before joining PR Fred was doing some great work with FNF: Organising FK members to join different events and the regular weekly fights. Other than that he has also been doing some work with other outside communities always looking for something interesting to throw in the mix. Thank you everyone for keeping this April Fool's Day light hearted and fun. The staff team had a great time planning all the shenanigans this year - and look forward to next year. That being said as with any event we appreciate and take your feedback under advisement. Some have voiced that the slotting procedures for last nights main mission went a bit too far and ended up impeding on it's main goal - to be fun and funny. For that I sincerely apologize and promise to do better to look at all perspectives when planning events like this in the future. Thank you all for participating and for your understanding. - Rhea

Emissary Squad Updates

Under the direct supervision of our newest PR officer @Fred, FK Gaming's Emissary Squad has been participating in many Arma 3 events with other communities. In the next few months we plan to expand this branch of our out reach by participating in more varied events ranging from casual game mode play to full on e-sports tournaments. 

In the past month our Emissary Squad has represented FK Gaming in the weekly Friday Night Fights PVP Events, placed 5th out of 12 in the FNF Titans Tournament, and is now looking forward to the Northern Winds Event.

Medical Trainers Reminder

Medical Trainers would like to remind all active Arma 3 players to familiarize themselves with the "how to handle casualties in the field" guide. This guide is not specifically for medics or medic tag holders - but for all players that will encounter a fallen friendly in the AO. This guide discusses how casualties are to be handled from basic first aid to coms. Please familiarize yourself with the procedures.

Fk Gaming's Emissary Squad is comprised of a group of Arma players from our community that "travel" to other communities to participate in joint operations. Currently we are participating in multiple operations each month with various different units. Zeus Poll 

@Fred has put up a poll to gauge interest from Zeus' about hosting missions here on FK servers and inviting outside units/individuals to join us. If you Zeus regularly/semi regularly on FK servers please let your thoughts be known on this subject. As stated in the thread - these missions would have full support from staff members to help guide our guests and ensure they enjoy their time while playing your missions.

Medical Settings Poll 

The Medical trainers are currently running a survey to get views from the community on possible changes to the medical system in the form of settings changes. A thread for discussion as well as a link to the google form for the poll can be found here. It will run for approximately 1 month. We highly encourage as many people to partake in this as possible. To clarify what this is, this is a poll to gather views on what the Community feels about current medical settings and if they feel they need to be changed or not.

FNF Titans - FKGaming was participating in an Arma 3 tournament called FNF Titans. We fought hard, but sadly did not return victorious. However, we have learned and improved a lot throughout the event! Special thanks to those who stepped in to help out when we were a player or two down. ESM Tournament - FK has also participated in the recent May 2021 Electronic Sports Master Vanilla Capture the Flag Tournament! We fought hard, and won some games. Sadly however, we were not able to take top place, although we did have fun and got to show off our ability in Arma 3.

AFI (/ European Arma 3 Events)  Invitational Operation - FK has been invited to a Team vs Team match called Operation Blueline, The event will be a large scale TvT operation, operating at a Command Level.  Now that vaccines are becoming available all over the world - congratulate yourself for surviving. Maybe you didn't enjoy your 2020/2021 as much as you had planned- but you didn't plan on having to live through a global pandemic either, I assume. After much deliberation in both the think tank and staff channels, the votes have been cast and counted. Both @LurkerOne and @Wattsits will be joining the CM team.

Congratulations to you both! 

Please give the new CMs a moment to get used to their new roles before bombarding them with questions, issues, or concerns. In the mean time feel free to bring any of these issues listed above to any other staff member, and we will be sure it get's handled.
