    Modset Changelog 01/01/18

    Well, call this a belated christmas present or a fresh start of the new year. But on the 1st of January, there will be a few changes to the modset. This post will list all changes that will happen to the main ARMA server on the 1st of January. You can already check these changes on the second server.

    UPDATES
    FK-ACE3 will update to ACE 3.12. Currently, the second server is running regular ace, not FK-ACE. Along with these changes come a few updates to the scripts, or better said, completely reworked scripts for the Zeus templates. Here is a list of the biggest and most important changes:
    Switch from BI Arsenal to ACE Arsenal. This new arsenal has easier blacklisting of items, so you can't take banned items. It also is more detailed and far superior to the BI arsenal. You access the ACE Arsenal by using your ace interaction key on the crate, instead of the action menu. CBA Settings. Now that ACE and TFAR have switched to using ACE settings, there is a lot that can be done during missions. The Zeus module to change ace medical settings has been removed; the admin can now change the CBA settings to enable and disable features, more than could be done before. Note that because of this, we will be renaming the TFR channels for the main and second server, so that the default TaskForceRadio channel will be for the local host and doesn't require you to change anything. TFAR. With TFAR 1.0, there come a few exciting changes. Most notably vehicle intercoms and radio towers, two additions that will be loved by tank/helicopter crews and platoons respectively. Another fun addition, AI-Hearing. This means that the AI will know when you are talking or receiving radio messages. So when the admin decides to enable this, you are fucked. Oh, and let's not forget that spectators can now hear the players on the ground. (and for the moment also the radios, but that should be fixed soon™) ACE 3.12. ACE arsenal as mentioned above is not the only change. There is now a renewed NVG system that is more realistic. Originally made by Shacktac, this adds more effects and makes NVGs less powerful. The settings for this have already been balanced so that the effects aren't as dramatic, but still present. General performance improvements. The whole structure of the scripts has been overhauled. Scripts are now running at more optimal moments, meaning that loading may be a bit faster for some people and there is less loading time overall. Staff members now also get some tools to see when someone got killed by a friendly, someone has non-whitelisted mods loaded or just to check on server performance. FULL UPDATED MODSET

    Unsung Taster Event

    As many of you may be aware; Unsung - The Vietnam War Arma Mod, was recently updated and released to the Steam Workshop. I will be running non-official FK Unsung events in the future, but the Admin Team have decided to let people try Unsung out on the Second Server for 2 days.
    Starting at 12:00 (British) on Sunday the 12th, and ending at Midnight on Monday the 13th, you can play with Unsung on the Second Server. There will be 2 Zeus missions, one per night, for the ultimate taster.
     
    To participate in the Taster Event, you will need to download the Unsung Vietnam War Mod. All other mods will remain as usual for server 2. 
    Try it out, see if you like it and if you do; join in the next batch of scripted missions!

    Squad Weekend

    For the past few weeks I have been pondering about setting up a Squad server for FK and what better excuse than a free weekend on steam.
    The Event:
    The full event is explained on the squad website. In short, starting next Thursday people can play squad for free or buy it at a 50% discount. To test if there is interest within FK to play this game more often I have setup a public server. I will also create 1 or 2 events on the calender so people can show their interest for a specific night. I will also create dedicated TS rooms that people can use while in the game.
    The Server:
    I have setup a server as a trail, it can be found on "squad.fkservers.eu:27165". The server will remain online for at least 2 weeks. After 2 weeks I will review the interest and the costs so we can decide if we keep it.

    Drastic mod changelog

    Because of issues that have arisen recently and performance issues people are having, it was decided that the mod pack had to be cut drastically. This post will contain the list of the new mod set and a list of the mods that will be getting removed. The list of mods being removed will also include links so you can unsubscribe from them more easily. The new mod set doesn't contain any new mods that were not in the previous mod set.

    A new website

    As you can all see the new website has gone live. The past weeks I have been hard at work squashing bugs and finding new ways to implement old features. Sadly not all of them made it to the new site, more on that later in this post. I would like to thank @V1rU5 for helping me find these bugs and getting them squashed, it was very helpful to have a second pair of eyes
    The update:
    As it stands the new theme is ready to be used, however the new features have not been fully implemented. Things like our server list and the new tags system still require some work and will follow soon. Over the course of the weekend I will be making some more changes to the theme updating things like the staff page. Should you find something you consider a bug please let me know in the website suggestion section of the forums.
    Promotions & Tags:
    With this update we have said goodbye to the old promotion system. Due to changes in the core of our website we can no longer use the reputation system, now called reactions system, to hand out prestige. A new plan to deal with promotions is being worked as several ideas are being looked at. Possibilities such as using an application based promotion system, or the time a person has spend on teamspeak are being looked at. Expect news on a final plan soon(™). The tag images being used to identify someones roles have also been lost during the upgrade. The plugin used for that was to broken to be ported. Fear not, the new tags system is close to being finished.

    While the image below shows the new tag holder page. Note that the name list will probably change as I am not happy with it yet.
