Fapovo Campaign - "Fapovo Fractured"

Hey all, this is a new campaign that I've been sitting on for a few months now and have been too busy to really start. This post will lay out the initial status of the campaign, and contain updates post each mission for those who missed them to catch up on the developments or failures of each.

The campaign will aim to be a little more sandbox in nature, giving choices to leaders about which areas and resources they'd like to capture to help your side in the conflict.
Said conflict will be a 4 way battle for the Islands of Fapovo. Story is as follows:

"The Islands of Fapovo have splintered. The government has fallen, and many opportunistic and idealist groups have risen up to try and take hold in the power vacuum that followed. Many have already fallen as initial skirmishes have drawn territories and battle lines throughout the region. One such group is that of the Lauramarin, who are the smallest of the 4 remaining major groups. They have found themselves with little to no terrain to speak of, but a lot of wits and heart may just save them yet."

The Map Starts as Follows:

  • Each flag roughly indicates the capital of each faction, as well as their primary colour.
  • The coloured areas indicate controlled territory, but are not exact.
  • Unmarked areas are mostly no-mans land, and usually abandoned for a reason.

The four sides at the start of the campaign are as follows:

1. The Lauramarin (Players)

Idealistic and with a lot to prove, the Lauramarin are easily the underdog in this conflict.

With only one unremarkable territory to speak of and very limited equipment with which to wage warfare, they will need to be smart and cautious.

2. The Botana Republic (Former gov forces)

On the converse to the Lauramarin, are the Botana Republic.

Mostly made up of former government forces, this gives the Botana the advantage of being the best equipped and trained of the forces. Still, corruption and greed still infect this force and may lead to their own eventual collapse.

3. The Sharkovo Nationalists (Numerous Conquerors)

tCDwYL2.jpg

Hailing from the largest sub-island in the region, the Sharkovians have long wanted independence. This conflict has been their chance to take it and much more.

They have already made significant territory gains, which include roughly a third of the mainland. They have achieved this through usage of their high numbers and clever use of their equipment.

4. The Sossana Separatists (Fierce Defenders)

Originating in the more arid part of the main island, the Sossana Separatists are hardy, tough and merciless folk.

They claim the North West, as well as the only island airfield, FOB Mermaid, which is a tactical boon they wish to keep.

So far they have made few pushes for territory, instead opting to fiercely and brutally defend their territory at all costs.

------

I will likely run the first of these missions as a calendar event, due to the likelihood of wanting to severely restrict equipment due to your side's lack of it in-universe. I also apologise in advance for delays in starting and gaps between each missions, as I will probably be so busy it will be rare that I have energy to run them. But hopefully these posts will serve as a handy catch up before each mission.

Mission 0 was ran today. Event Link: https://www.fkgaming.eu/calendar/event/1338-fapovo-fractured-mission-0-prelude/

---

Mission was an unmitigated disaster. Infiltration on to Isla Tera to gather boats and intel failed when over eager resistance members blew their cover quickly and led to other patrols converging on their location, killing most and capturing 4 people.

Mission Failed.

I knew I was going to miss a fun mission.  😁

Mission 1 (Opening Gambit) was ran today. Event Link: https://www.fkgaming.eu/calendar/event/1396-fapovo-fractured-mission-1-opening-gambit/

Mission was a success. Both objectives of securing assets, weaponry and some ammo were successful, as well as rescuing those lost in mission 0. Only a few men were lost, and overall this was a great start to the cause.

Group 1 scavenged:

  • 1 AK-74M, 9 Mags | 1 AK-74, 3 Mags | 1 PKP, 450 rounds | 1 SVD, unknown amount of mags | various medical supplies | 4 Helmets | 4 Bulletproof vests

Group 1 also recruited a civilian for the cause.

Group 2 looted the medical supplies and any remaining weapons into the boats.

Generally supplies were well looted and this will lead to an increase of weapon availability in missions going forward, though not much due to limited ammunition.

The Lauramarin have however now drawn the attention and ire of the Botana Republic...

Mission 2 (Blame Game) was ran today. Event Link: https://www.fkgaming.eu/calendar/event/1404-fapovo-fractured-mission-2-blame-game/

Mission was a success. Heavy casualties on all sides, but a wealth of weaponry and equipment was attained, along with the core mission objectives. The Botanans now believe they were attacked by the Sharkovians (good job shouting stuff!) and this has escalated the conflict, notably between the nearby Botanan Isla Noela and the Sharkovian Isla Tera (which one group secured intel on).

Individual group tallies; Group 3: 2x PKM with about 5 boxes each | Group 4: 1 pkm in the squad, all members had aks, one medical crate, one crate of grenades | Group 7: 1x rpg and 1x akm with gp25 |

Body armour and helmets were again secured, but sustained damage in combat. Hopefully we can salvage some.

Now with another conflict escalating nearby your home, now may be the time to strike while they are distracted with each other, and take some land for yourselves...

Mission 3 (Island Hopping) was ran today. Event Link: https://www.fkgaming.eu/calendar/event/1411-fapovo-fractured-mission-3-island-hopping/

Mission was... a draw? It's hard to say, but with again heavy casualties on all sides, the Lauramarin were left with little choice but to retreat. However, there were very few forces left of the Botanans on Isla Noela, and Isla Tera had been fully taken from the Sharkovians.

As per usual some weaponry and equipment was seized for the cause, though not all was able to be fully secured. We will have to regroup and consolidate our forces for another push, though the Botanans may try to push back...

Mission 3.5 (Mysterious Meeting) was ran today [an off-hours small op!]. Event Link: https://www.fkgaming.eu/calendar/event/1414-fapovo-fractured-mission-35-mysterious-meeting/

Mission was a complete success. Met with the contact, who gave information in exchange for leaving him alive in a future mission so he can "disappear" from the Sharkovian forces.

He gave convoy schedule information, to help us plan an ambush in future. He also pointed to possible locations where explosives could be found to help with this. Friendly forces were successful in finding and getting out with these explosives, and will be rigging them up with cellphone detonators in future...

Mission 4 (Capturing Convoys) was ran today. Event Link: https://www.fkgaming.eu/calendar/event/1417-fapovo-fractured-mission-4-capturing-convoys/

Mission was an overall success.

For part 1, the island was secured with heavy casualties. Many enemy helicopters were destroyed using the ZU we captured, and we recovered a half broken BMP. Now we need to learn how to use it...

For part 2, ammo trucks were all destroyed, but fuel was secured and successfully extracted. The informant was successfully extracted too.

Overall, decent amounts of AK ammo (and more things!) were secured and will lead to better availability in missions going forward.

Mission 5 (Jailbreak) was ran today. Event Link: https://www.fkgaming.eu/calendar/event/1423-fapovo-fractured-mission-5-jailbreak/

Mission was a success, barely.

The General made some odd demands of your forces, but you managed to retrieve his beloved hat and cache of favoured sterling guns.

And despite stiff resistance from the Botanans, The Lauramarin mostly made it out. However, 5 men were left behind (including a doctor), who managed to swim back - but another 2 are unaccounted for. Hopefully they weren't captured by the enemy and interrogated...

Mission 6 (Home Invasion) was ran today. Event Link: https://www.fkgaming.eu/calendar/event/1425-fapovo-fractured-mission-6-home-invasion/

Mission was a success! Through clever divvying of areas and movement of forces, The Lauramarin managed to protect their home - and gain some loot in the process!

Many weapons, magazines and even two partially intact helicopters were scavenged. These should also be a great boon going forward.
