Scramble! ++MISSION BRIEFING++ April 8th, Viet Nam, SE Asia, 1970 Apache Troop, 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry "The Blues" This mission is a part of the Charity Drive to support those suffering from the Humanitarian Crisis in Ukraine. Please support our drive here. 15 minutes ago Hotshot 1-7 was shot down while extracting a team from MACV SOG. The pilot managed to report heavy MG fire from their North before radio communications were cut off. The support bird had to wave off after it also took some hits, but reported seeing Hotshot 1-7 hit below the canopy. A Troop has been ordered to scramble, operating as the region's QRF. Deploy quickly, move swiftly & recover our stranded boys. Since Hotshot had just picked up the SOG team you can expect to find 10 US personnel needing immediate extraction. Once the friendlies have been extracted, attempt to locate and eliminate the enemy AA piece. If possible, locate their basecamp for further strikes. ++BRIEFING COMPLETED++ MISSION SUMMARY: This will be a heavily themed mission with elements taken from the Vietnam War, with some artistic liberties taken. Swamp Runnin' ++MISSION BRIEFING++ Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment 'Wolfhounds', 25th Infantry Division 'Tropic Lightning'. Division intelligence has managed to locate what they believe to be a VC storage dump within the Mekong Delta region. They estimate hostile activity to be 'Moderate' and limited to local force VC. As far as the intel indicates, the location is a way station for forces operating within the Mekong, and shouldn't be a major site of enemy resistance. G2 rate the credibility of this report at 75%. G Company will be laagered overnight at FOB6 Ho Ngoc Tao. In the morning, an aviation platoon will insert you to LZ 'Domino'. From there, patrol in a North-Easterly direction and ascertain the sympathies of the local villagers. This mission will be on FK#5, and will require the SOG CDLC. There will be reservations for one squad, but if more people turn up they can perhaps form a second squad. (RSVP to show interest) OBJECTIVES: "Your MACV SOG unit was deployed to the Ho Chi Minh Trail, but your RON (remain overnight) site has been discovered by VC. You need to move out at first light and find an extraction. Your first extract bird was shot down on infil so you gotta continue onwards to find another way out. Luckily, COVEY and their Pink Team will be available to help keep you boys safe as you try to make your way North and find some way out of this hellhole. Prairie Fire! Prairie Fire! ++MISSION BRIEFING++ Today marks the start of Operation Hellfire, a highly classified and dangerous mission that will test the skills and courage of each and every one of you. As MACV-SOG, we have been selected for this task due to our unique abilities and expertise in behind enemy lines operations. We have been assigned two objectives. The first objective is to destroy the VC supply depo where supply convoys usually move from, this should cause enough mayhem to give you a chance of coming back from the last objective. The final objective is to destroy the Anti-Aircraft assets and jets at a hidden VC airport defending the enemy's airspace. This objective will trigger the Viet Cong, who will respond like a hornet's nest. Once the final objective is accomplished, evacuate south at all cost! Call Prairie Fire and the US aviators will be rain Hellfire on the enemy. We must clear the area to avoid any friendly casualties. You will need to be prepared for any eventuality and execute each objective with precision and speed. This mission will not be easy, and we will face obstacles and challenges along the way. However, I have no doubt that we will complete each objective successfully. Remember to keep your wits about you and follow the plan we have set in place. Good luck to each and every one of you. The fate of our country rests on our shoulders, and we will not let it down. May God be with us. - Chief SOG ++BRIEFING COMPLETED++ MISSION SUMMARY: This will be a heavily themed mission with elements taken from the Vietnam War, with some artistic liberties taken. Get ready to land boys! Watch out the LZ is HOT! ++MISSION BRIEFING++ Good morning, everyone. As you all know, we have a critical mission ahead of us. As of today morning, the main US Army will attack the city of Hanoi, and we have been tasked with taking over three critical PAVN and VC emplacements. The success of our mission is essential for the overall success of the American effort in Vietnam. Our first objective is a radio tower located northeast of Hanoi. This tower is critical to the enemy's communication network, and destroying it will significantly benefit the main push towards Hanoi. We must ensure that the tower is destroyed and cleared of any PAVN forces. Our second objective is a POW camp that reportedly contains informants and POWs that need to be rescued. The camp is heavily guarded, and we expect strong resistance from the enemy. We must move quickly and efficiently to rescue the prisoners and neutralize any PAVN forces in the area. Our last objective is located northwest of Gia Lan Airbase and is a highly strategic location occupied by anti-air and mortar emplacements. The more damage we do to it, the greater our chances of pushing through the west. This location is critical to the enemy's defense, and we must ensure that we neutralize it before the main push towards Hanoi. Let's go out there and make our country proud! -Airborne Commander ++BRIEFING COMPLETED++ MISSION SUMMARY: This will be a heavily themed mission with elements taken from the Vietnam War, with some artistic liberties taken. ++MISSION BRIEFING++ “It remains a stubborn fact that the percentage of the countryside which is dominated or threatened by the Viet Cong continues to grow.” McGeorge Bundy, White House security advisor, 1965 In response to NVA attempts to cut the vital supply line along the River between Nong Khiaw and Yen Tinh, command has approved a large-scale operation to secure the river delta and the immediate area upstream. Large numbers of NVA units, seeing our military buildup, have intensified attacks in the area and have been visibly fortifying the zones of control they hold at the river crossings. Your objective is to secure the three primary river crossings intact or otherwise, to secure our line of supply to the north and eliminate NVA activities in the area. Multiple fixed-wing and rotary elements have been allocated for this operation, and ground troops and armor will provide the muscle we need to hold the ground taken. Objective #1: Che River Base. NVA Marines and regular army units occupy Che River Base with its fortifications at the water line blocking any attempt to move supplies North along the river and its Troops able to interfere in any movement on Attapeu to its North. Anti Air batteries have been reported within the base and entrenchments have been seen to the west of the base blocking the approaches and providing a ring of protection to the Anti Air Sites. Enemy Composition: Strength: Estimated Company Strength ( 180 - 200 Soldiers). Armor: Up to BTR-40. AA: ZU Emplacements. 1x SAM Launcher Confirmed. ARTILLERY: Light Mortar Emplacements, Anti Tank Guns Guarding the Shoreline. Objective #2: Attapeu/Bridge. Enemy Composition: Strength: Estimated Platoon Strength ( 40 - 60 Soldiers). Armor: Up to PT-76A One Seen in Attapeu more probable. AA: ZU Emplacements (Che River Base). 1x SAM Launcher Confirmed (Che River Base). ARTILLERY: Light Mortar Emplacements (Che River Base), Anti Tank Guns Seen at the Eastern Bridge crossing. Objective #3: Nong Khiaw/Bridge. NVA Army Troops and Armor occupy the town and its bridge preventing movement in the area and providing an backup blocking force to Che down river. NVA Armor appears to be occupying fortified positions North of the river and are preparing to engage any approaching units from the south. Additionally there appears to be activity in Dao Trai however we have not been able to identify what units may be present there. Enemy Composition: Strength: Estimated Company Strength ( 180 - 200 Soldiers). Armor: Up to T-55. AA: Unknown. ARTILLERY: None. Noted Areas: MSS Leghorn, Area Surrounding Gjua Ho. MSS Leghorn is our primary outpost in the Area of operations and it currently may be used to forward deploy Troops and Armor if you so choose. At this time however patrols in the area have indicated increased NVA activity in the Jungle east of the outpost and appear to be increasing in number. Recommend reconnaissance of the area to determine Enemy Troop strength and to prevent interference with the planed operation. Further action may be necessary. Strength US: Company Strength (40 Soldiers). Strength NVA: Estimated Strength (Unknown). Armor: Unknown. AA: Unknown. ARTILLERY: None. ++BRIEFING COMPLETED++ MISSION SUMMARY: This will be a heavily themed mission with elements taken from the Vietnam War The mission will be making use of the Arma 3 mods UNSUNG REDUX, S.O.G.
